Tiles and Tiling in Thrope Astley LE3
For this bathroom renovation project, our team at Bath Barn received a brief from the customer to do the tiling in such a way as to give the bathroom a classic and timeless look, while ensuring that the bathroom was fully tiled and was easy to clean. This is where we as a specialist tiling contractor came to the fore and created a timeless collection.
The brief
In order to create a timeless bathroom, the customer opted to go with a beige colour, which is very neutral indeed and it would enable him to introduce other colours in the bathroom through towels and shower mats, among other things. The tiles chosen, apart from being beige in colour, were 300 x 600 mm in size and they were ceramic. The effect that this customer chose was a plain, straight tiling effect.
What we did
The team of specialists from our tile centre got to work, finishing the job from start to end in approximately 10 working days. Before the job was completed, the customer came to our bathroom showroom and chose among a wide selection of beige tile suppliers for the project.
Here’s a brief breakdown of what we did.
Tiling and chrome finishes
Apart from installing all the tiles, we also chrome-trimmed the bathroom to give it a better finish across the weather and sewer stackers as well as along the window area.
Tiling the boxed-in area
In this bathroom, there was also a staircase that came into the area, which was originally painted. However, we tiled the whole boxed-in area, making it completely maintenance-free for the customer. It was fully tiled, apart from the shower area, where we installed beige panels that would be easy to clean with a wiper blade. As such, the customer could clean the bathroom efficiently as opposed to scrubbing the tiles and grout as well.
The vanity and the flooring
In terms of the vanity unit and the flooring, the customer already had a wider vanity unit for storage. We again finished everything off with chrome fittings and fixtures and added vinyl flooring to create a greater and more prominent contrast within the entire bathroom space.
Changing the electric to a thermostatic shower
Although the customer originally had an electric shower, we installed a pump to feed the gravity tank to enable them to have a thermostatic shower instead. As such, the water pressure is now far better than the electric shower and it is also much more affordable to use on a daily basis.
The finer details
In terms of perfecting the finer details in this bathroom, we also used anti-mould silicone in the bathroom both within the shower and outside the shower area. We then matched it with a similar colour where we used anti-mould grout.
